Music

At Shottermill Junior School, we are passionate about Music and we have been awarded the Music Mark.  We fully agree with the following statement taken from: The power of music to change lives A National Plan for Music Education - June 2022. 

'Music is a cornerstone of the broad and balanced education that every child should receive. It touches hearts and minds, it celebrates and challenges, and it connects us and moves us.'

At our school we provide an hour of Music to every child, in every year group, each week.  This is delivered through our dedicated Specialist Music Teacher, which we feel sets us apart from many other Primary settings, where Music is usually delivered by a Class Teacher. 

Music lessons are taught in our Dance Studio, but additional space is provided for small group tuition in our Music Practice Room.  We teach whole school singing in the Main Hall, which has a newly installed sound system and stage lighting for hosting summer productions and special assemblies.

SAM Music Service provides 20-30 minute 1:1 music lessons, allowing your child the opportunity of learning to play the guitar, drum kit, piano/keyboard or to sing. The team will also offer a free taster session to any interested families.
